Callum is the head of the Motor and Transport team. He is a solicitor with over 15 years of experience dealing with road traffic and transport matters. He is a duty solicitor and regularly represents clients at the police station and Magistrates' Court.
Over the years, Callum has developed a specific interest in road traffic matters and is frequently instructed to represent clients facing the full range of road traffic offences from speeding, through to causing death or serious injury by dangerous driving.
Callum has successfully defended many trials relating to road traffic offences and has often been able to argue “technical defences” leading to not guilty verdicts.
Callum is highly experienced in representing operators and drivers in areas relating to transport law. Callum first became involved in transport law in 2002 when he was instructed by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), now the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) in actions brought against transport operators and professional drivers. He has continued to represent clients in VOSA / DVSA cases, including criminal cases in the Magistrates' and Crown Courts, as well as regulatory actions before the Traffic Commissioner. Callum also represents clients at the Transport Tribunal.
During this time Callum has developed a significant breadth of experience of the law relating to the transport industry, covering both public service vehicles (PSV’s) and goods vehicles.
This experience has enabled Callum to represent operators and drivers in actions (both criminal and regulatory) brought by DVSA and the police relating to the transport industry. He provides:
- Criminal defence of all offences, including falsification of tachographs
- Representation at public inquiries
- Representation at driver conduct hearings
- Representation at impounding hearings for the recovery of impounded vehicles
Callum also helps operators in applications for operator’s licences or variations of existing ones.
